Montreal-based indie developer Artifice Studio has announced the forthcoming launch of its turn-based RPG, Legends of the Round Table, on PC via Steam. Set for release on March 31, 2026, this game offers a fresh interpretation of the classic Arthurian legends, merging historical elements with modern tactical gameplay.

Players will enter a medieval world steeped in chivalry, magic, and romance. The game is designed for those who appreciate strategic depth coupled with immersive storytelling. Central to the experience are meaningful choices that lead to lasting consequences, shaping the narrative and character development throughout the game.

Combat is structured around a chivalric turn-based system, where every encounter has significant implications. Players will participate in mounted charges, intense duels, and skirmishes that carry the risk of permanent loss. The mechanics also incorporate squire management, reflecting the realities of medieval warfare and the honor code integral to the era.

Visually Striking and Musically Enchanting

The artistic direction of Legends of the Round Table draws heavily from 13th-century illuminated manuscripts. The hand-painted artwork captures the unique style of the period, enhancing the game’s historical authenticity. Complementing this visual experience is an original soundtrack, featuring live performances on the lute and harp, including haunting vocals by Anne Azéma of The Boston Camerata.

As players navigate through narrative-driven quests, they will encounter branching storylines influenced by moral dilemmas, political intrigue, and romantic elements. Leading iconic figures such as Lancelot, Gawain, and King Arthur, players will manage not only their combat capabilities but also the evolving traits and motivations of these characters as they progress through the game.

Director Yan Pepin emphasized the creative shift away from traditional RPG power fantasies. He stated, “We wanted to move away from the typical RPG power fantasy and instead focus on knights driven by honor and moral duty.” Pepin noted that the development team dedicated years to crafting an experience where chivalry and honor guide players in their adventures, allowing them to forge their own Arthurian legends.

With its unique blend of tactical gameplay, rich narrative, and artistic inspiration, Legends of the Round Table is poised to capture the interest of both RPG enthusiasts and fans of the Arthurian mythos when it launches on March 31, 2026.
