Motorola Teams Up with GrapheneOS to Enhance Mobile Security
Motorola has announced a strategic partnership with the GrapheneOS Foundation during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026, aiming to deliver advanced mobile security solutions for users worldwide. This collaboration is set to combine GrapheneOS’s innovative engineering with Motorola’s extensive experience in security, leveraging insights from real-world users and the resources of Lenovo’s ThinkShield solutions.
New Era of Smartphone Security
The partnership signifies a commitment to enhancing smartphone security through a series of joint efforts. Motorola plans to initiate extensive research and software enhancements that will introduce new security capabilities in the coming months. A spokesperson from GrapheneOS stated, “We are thrilled to be partnering with Motorola to bring GrapheneOS’s industry-leading privacy and security-focused mobile operating system to their next-generation smartphone. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in expanding the reach of GrapheneOS, and we applaud Motorola for taking this meaningful step towards advancing mobile security.”
This collaboration aims to build a new generation of privacy and security technology that can be integrated into future Motorola devices. As the partnership progresses, both organizations will share more details on the specific solutions developed.
Enhancements to Business Services
In addition to the partnership, Motorola is also expanding its business services with two new tools: Moto Secure and Moto Analytics. These tools aim to enhance Motorola’s business-to-business (B2B) ecosystem, providing advanced security features and deeper operational insights tailored for various industries.
Moto Analytics is described as an enterprise-grade analytics platform that offers real-time visibility into device performance for IT administrators. Unlike conventional Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) tools that typically emphasize access control, Moto Analytics provides comprehensive operational insights, including app stability, battery health, and connectivity performance. By utilizing this data, IT teams can troubleshoot issues more effectively, preempt potential problems, and maintain employee productivity.
Furthermore, as part of the ThinkShield ecosystem, Moto Analytics is designed to integrate seamlessly with existing enterprise environments, allowing for easy scalability as organizations grow.
Motorola is also enhancing its Moto Secure platform by introducing a new feature called Private Image Data. This feature is designed to give users greater control over sensitive metadata stored in their photos. When activated, it automatically removes critical metadata from all new images captured on the device, safeguarding information such as location and device identification. This privacy protection operates discreetly in the background, ensuring that while the image itself remains untouched, any private data associated with it is cleared.
The rollout of the Private Image Data feature is expected to begin in the coming months for Motorola’s signature devices, with additional updates and refinements anticipated as the partnership evolves.
The collaboration with GrapheneOS, along with the launch of new business tools, highlights Motorola’s proactive approach to enhancing mobile security and providing improved services to its users. As both companies work together, they are poised to set new standards in the mobile security landscape.
