Gordon Murray Automotive Unveils S1 LM and Le Mans GTR at Monterey

Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) has made a significant impact at the Monterey Car Week 2025 with the introduction of its Special Vehicles division. The debut showcased two remarkable track cars: the S1 LM, inspired by the iconic McLaren F1 GTR, and the Le Mans GTR, a tribute to longtail racers of the past. This marks a pivotal moment for GMA, highlighting its commitment to creating exclusive high-performance vehicles.

The S1 LM, which draws its design from the legendary McLaren F1 GTR, is set to be produced in a limited run of just five examples, all of which have already been allocated to a single collector. This collector is known for their deep appreciation of the original McLaren F1 GTR, a vehicle that had only 28 units produced between 1995 and 1997, with current values reaching approximately US$20 million each. The S1 LM aims to replicate the allure of the classic while incorporating modern engineering advancements.

Distinctive Features and Specifications

The S1 LM is built on the same platform as GMA’s T.50 but is uniquely tuned for track performance. It features bodywork that pays homage to the original design, complete with elements such as a roof-mounted air scoop and a set of four exhaust tips integrated into the rear diffuser. The aerodynamics have been significantly enhanced with updated wings and splitters that reflect decades of advancements in automotive engineering.

Powering the S1 LM is a newly developed 4.3-litre V12 engine, delivering approximately 690 horsepower. This impressive powerplant is complemented by a six-speed manual transmission, providing an engaging driving experience. Although all five units of the S1 LM are already spoken for, production is set to begin in 2026.

The second vehicle unveiled, the Le Mans GTR, serves as another homage to racing history. Also based on the T.50 chassis, this track special is designed to further refine the racing experience, featuring a naturally aspirated V12 engine paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. While its engineering is still in development, deliveries are anticipated to start alongside the S1 LM in 2026. GMA plans to produce 24 examples of the Le Mans GTR, correlating to the 24-hour endurance race for which it is named.
