Two Arrested in Prince Edward OPP’s Online Fraud Investigation

Two individuals have been charged following a year-long investigation into a significant online fraud case. The Prince Edward Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated its investigation in October 2024 after a resident from the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory reported being defrauded of over $100,000.
The investigation, led by the Prince Edward County OPP Crime Unit, received support from several specialized units, including the OPP Regional Support Team, the OPP Risk Offender Enforcement Unit, OPP Aviation Services, and the Winnipeg Police Service. This collaborative approach aimed to uncover the complexities of the online scam, which had targeted vulnerable individuals.
On Wednesday, Diana Addae, 27, from Mississauga, and Kenneth Danumon, 23, from Guelph, voluntarily surrendered to the OPP in Toronto. Their arrests mark a significant development in the ongoing investigation, which has focused on identifying and apprehending those responsible for the fraudulent activities.
According to the OPP, the suspects are believed to be part of a larger network that has exploited victims through deceptive online practices. The police have emphasized the importance of reporting such incidents promptly, as early intervention can help mitigate financial losses and assist in bringing offenders to justice.
The online fraud case has raised awareness about the risks associated with digital transactions and the necessity for individuals to remain vigilant. The OPP encourages anyone who suspects they may have been targeted by similar scams to contact their office for assistance.
As the investigation continues, authorities are expected to provide further updates on the case and any additional charges that may arise. The OPP remains committed to combating online fraud and ensuring the safety of individuals within their jurisdiction.
