Colorful Kites Take Flight at Colombo International Kite Festival

The skies over Colombo, Sri Lanka, were a vibrant tapestry of color as the Colombo International Kite Festival took place, attracting participants from around the globe. On October 15, 2023, hundreds of intricately designed kites, including those shaped like elephants, leopards, and pandas, danced in the wind, captivating both locals and international visitors.
Enthusiasts from 25 countries joined approximately 500 kite flyers from Sri Lanka to celebrate this unique event. Countries represented included Germany, the Netherlands, Malaysia, Indonesia, France, Australia, China, Thailand, South Korea, India, and Singapore. The festival is not only a showcase of artistic flying but also serves as a platform for cultural exchange among participants from diverse backgrounds.
Celebrating Culture Through Kite Flying
The event highlights the rich cultural tapestry of Sri Lanka, where kite flying is a cherished tradition.
