Brandon Businesses Announce Labour Day Hours for September 4

As Labour Day approaches on September 4, 2023, businesses and services in Brandon are preparing to adjust their hours of operation. This holiday is recognized across Canada, and many local establishments will either close or modify their schedules to accommodate the observance.
Business Hours on Labour Day
Several key locations in Brandon will be closed for Labour Day, including Brandon City Hall located at 410 Ninth St., the A.R. McDiarmid Civic Complex, and the Brandon Youth Centre at 638 Princess Ave. Other closures include the Civic Services Complex at 382 Park Ave. East, the Parks Complex at 2020 McGregor Ave., and the Eastview Landfill at 765 33rd St. East. Additionally, the Brandon Community Sportsplex at 30 Knowlton Dr. will not open its doors on this holiday.
Public transit will operate on a limited schedule, with Brandon Transit running from 09:00 to 19:00. However, the Transit Information Centre at 21 Eighth St. will remain closed. Residents can report public works emergencies by calling 204-729-2285, while non-emergency issues can be submitted online through the City of Brandon’s website.
Retail and Service Openings
Several retailers will maintain regular hours on Labour Day. The Real Canadian Superstore at 920 Victoria Ave. will be open from 07:00 to 22:00. Both Sobeys Extra Brandon South at 1645 18th St. and Sobeys Brandon West at 3409 Victoria Ave. will welcome customers from 07:00 to 23:00. The Co-op Marketplace at 1035 Richmond Ave. will be open from 08:00 to 20:00, though its pharmacy will be closed.
The Walmart Supercentre in the Corral Centre will also operate from 07:00 to 22:00, alongside the Corral Centre Safeway, which will be open from 07:00 to 23:00. For those looking for liquor options, the Brandon South, Victoria Avenue, Corral Centre, and West End Express Liquor Marts will be open from 11:00 to 18:00.
Local beer establishments such as the Keystone Beer Company at 1865 Brandon Ave. will operate from 10:00 until midnight, while the Beer Warehouse at the Victoria Inn, 3550 Victoria Ave., will be open from 11:00 to 23:00. The 40 at 210 18th St. will also maintain hours from 10:00 to 23:00.
Healthcare services will see some closures as well. The Newmount Medical Walk-In Clinic will not be open on Labour Day. For pharmacy services, many locations, including Shoppers Drug Mart, will remain open. The Shoppers Drug Mart at 139 Victoria Ave. East and the one in the Shoppers Mall will both be open from 08:00 to 22:00.
Finally, the Shoppers Mall will welcome visitors from 10:00 to 18:00, and the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum will be open from 10:00 to 16:00 for those interested in local history.
