Sudbury Police Investigate Double Homicide; One Arrest Made
The Greater Sudbury Police Service is conducting an investigation into a double homicide that occurred on the night of March 15, 2024. Officers responded to reports of gunfire at an apartment building located at 1960 Paris Street, known as Rumball Terrace, at approximately 22:23. Upon arrival, police discovered a deceased male and a deceased female on one of the building’s floors.
Investigation Underway
Authorities announced that an arrest has been made in connection with the incident. Preliminary investigations suggest that additional suspects fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement. According to police officials, this shooting appears to be a targeted incident involving individuals who were known to each other. Investigators are actively working to identify and locate the remaining suspects.
“Officers are actively working to identify and locate the suspect,” police stated in a news release issued on the morning of March 16. The investigation has been filed under incident number SU25043477 and remains ongoing.
Community Safety Assured
Despite the presence of outstanding suspects, Sudbury police have reassured the public that there is no immediate threat to community safety. “There is no threat to public safety,” the news release emphasized.
Authorities are appealing to the public for assistance in gathering information related to the case. Anyone with relevant details is encouraged to contact the police at 705-675-9171 or to reach out to Crime Stoppers anonymously.
As of now, police have not disclosed the identities of the victims or the suspect in custody, nor have they indicated how many additional suspects are still at large. “Further updates will be provided as they become available,” police concluded in their statement.
