Google Pixel 10a Rumored Specs Raise Concerns Among Fans

The upcoming Google Pixel 10a may disappoint fans with its lack of significant upgrades, according to new information from Mystic Leaks. As the release date approaches, details suggest that the device will feature older hardware and fewer enhancements compared to its predecessor, the Pixel 9a.
Limited Hardware Upgrades
Reports indicate that the Pixel 10a will utilize the Tensor G4 chipset, which was first introduced in the previous year’s Pixel 9 series. This marks a departure from Google’s previous strategy of employing the latest chip from the main Pixel lineup, slightly underclocked for the “a-series” models. Instead, this will be the third consecutive year that the Tensor G4 has been featured in a mid-range Pixel device, raising concerns about the device’s competitiveness in the market.
The storage capability of the Pixel 10a is also expected to remain at UFS 3.1, which is a generation behind the more advanced UFS 4.0 found in many new smartphones. This decision could lead to slower app load times and reduced file transfer speeds, potentially affecting users’ overall experience with the device.
Camera and AI Features Missing
In addition to hardware limitations, the Pixel 10a is rumored to lack a telephoto camera, continuing a trend where “Pixel a” devices do not offer dedicated zoom capabilities. The standard Pixel 10 is the first model in Google’s lineup to include a zoom sensor, making the absence of this feature in the 10a somewhat disappointing for photography enthusiasts.
Another notable omission is the Magic Cue feature, which is Google’s new on-device AI tool designed to provide contextual information during calls and chats. Users had hoped this feature would enhance the overall functionality of the Pixel 10a, but its absence signifies a focus on budget constraints rather than innovations.
On a more positive note, the display of the Pixel 10a may receive a slight upgrade, with brightness potentially increasing to 2,200 nits, compared to the 2,000 nits of the Pixel 9a. This enhancement could improve visibility in bright conditions, though it does not compensate for the other reported shortcomings.
While these details remain unconfirmed, and Google may still adjust its specifications prior to the launch, the current information suggests that the Pixel 10a will prioritize cost-saving measures over meaningful performance improvements. Fans are left wondering if this model will continue to serve as an enticing entry point into the Pixel ecosystem or if it will fall short of expectations.
