The United Methodist Church of Geneva is set to host a memorial blood drive on September 18, 2023, in partnership with the Versiti Blood Center’s mobile unit. This event will take place from 14:30 to 19:00 in the church’s Fellowship Hall, located at 211 Hamilton Street. Registration is required to participate, and attendees will benefit from free parking at the venue.

Pastor Rob Hamilton expressed his hopes for community engagement, stating, “I hope to see you, or those you invited, in our Fellowship Hall (or at a blood bank near you) this week!” This sentiment reflects the church’s commitment to fostering community spirit and encouraging participation in life-saving initiatives.

The blood drive is specifically dedicated to the memory of Sam, the late seven-year-old grandson of a church member who received blood transfusions that sustained his organs for donation. Blood drive coordinator Linda Tamlyn highlighted the significance of the event, remarking, “Hopefully, people will realize that they are doing the same by donating blood.” This poignant connection underscores the importance of blood donation in saving lives and honoring the memory of those who have benefited from transfusions.

For those interested in participating, additional information and registration can be obtained by calling 630-222-3624. This initiative not only provides a platform for community members to contribute to a vital cause but also serves as a tribute to the legacy of a young life, encouraging others to consider the impact of their donations.
