Streator Library Hosts Exciting Activities for All Ages

The Streator Public Library is set to offer an engaging week of activities from September 22 to 27, inviting residents of all ages to participate in creative and interactive events. A highlight of the week is the Lord of the Rings-themed scavenger hunt, where visitors can explore the library to discover hidden items inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s beloved fantasy world.
Starting on Monday, the scavenger hunt will provide a unique experience for fans of the franchise. Each week, the theme will change, ensuring that there is always a fresh adventure waiting for library-goers. Additionally, the Lego Club will operate throughout the week, allowing children aged 0 to 5 and older to build and create with Lego bricks. Parents are encouraged to assist with the Lego bins during this unstructured program.
On Monday afternoon, adults can relax at The Scribble Studio from 16:00 to 17:00, where they can engage in crafting sensory-friendly projects to take home. For young aspiring artists, the Beginners Painting Academy will take place on Tuesday from 16:00 to 17:00, focusing on watercolor and acrylic techniques for children aged 0 to 5+. Later that evening, a Lord of the Rings Trivia event will challenge fans’ knowledge from 18:30 to 19:30, providing an opportunity to connect with fellow enthusiasts.
Wednesday’s schedule features Game Time from 15:00 to 16:00 for teens aged 10 and older, offering a mix of video games, board games, and puzzles. At 18:00 that evening, the Let’s Talk: True Crime club will meet to delve into captivating true crime stories, appealing to teens and adults who enjoy mystery-solving.
On Thursday, toddlers can participate in the Mother Goose Club at 11:00, engaging with interactive nursery rhymes that promote early social skills. Later, the Discovery Lab will provide a hands-on STEM experience from 16:00 to 17:00 for children and teens interested in exploring science and technology. At 18:00, the Advanced Painting Academy invites older teens and adults to join a seasonal, step-by-step painting class designed to enhance artistic abilities.
The week will conclude on Saturday, September 27, with the Bubble Cauldron Craft scheduled from 13:00 to 14:00. Children and teens will have the chance to create art using bubbles and soap to paint a bubbling cauldron.
All events are free of charge and will take place at the Streator Public Library, located at 130 S. Park St.. With a diverse range of activities, the Streator Public Library aims to foster community engagement and creativity among its visitors.
