Oakville Retiree Celebrates Second $100,000 Lottery Win

A retiree from Oakville, Ontario, experienced a remarkable stroke of luck by winning a second lottery prize of $100,000 within less than a year. Donald Sullivan, aged 67, has been an avid lottery player for over three decades, with a particular fondness for Poker Lotto.
In September 2024, Sullivan struck gold with a royal flush on Poker Lotto All In, earning a prize of $99,091.70. His latest windfall came after he purchased a ticket at a Circle K store on Sixth Line in July. Initially, he did not win anything on the Instant portion of the game, but the outcome changed dramatically later that evening.
“I stayed up past midnight and discovered I’d won $100,000 in the nightly draw,” Sullivan recalled. With excitement bubbling over, he reflected on how he celebrated that night. “It was too late to call friends or go to the store to have my ticket validated, so it was just me, my ticket, and a couple of cold beers,” he said.
The next morning, Sullivan shared the astonishing news with two friends, who were equally shocked and elated for him. The impact of his previous win had been significant; it allowed him to address various financial responsibilities. With this latest victory, he is contemplating purchasing a new car but intends to prioritize saving for the future.
“I’m retired now, and this prize will be a nice nest egg,” he commented. Sullivan expressed disbelief at winning again, stating, “Some people get holes-in-one — I’ll stick to Poker Lotto!” His story serves as a reminder of the thrill and unpredictability of lottery games, particularly for those who play regularly.
As lottery players around the region continue to dream of their own big wins, Sullivan’s experience highlights the joy and excitement that can come from a game of chance.
