Sault Community Theatre Centre Celebrates 35 Years of Arts

The Sault Community Theatre Centre (SCTC) will celebrate its 35th anniversary with a gala event this Saturday, marking a significant milestone in its history. The theatre, located in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, originated from an auditorium upgrading project at White Pines Collegiate and Vocational School in February 1989. By August 1990, this initiative evolved into the establishment of the SCTC, which has since played a vital role in enriching the local arts scene.
“To mark this occasion, we are hosting a gala celebration that commemorates the success of the theatre in our community,” stated a news release from the theatre. The event aims to highlight the centre’s commitment to showcasing unforgettable performances, nurturing local talent, and fostering community connections through the performing arts.
The SCTC plans to honor its past accomplishments while also celebrating contemporary achievements and shaping the future of the arts in Sault Ste. Marie. The release emphasized the importance of community support: “Your support will ensure the Sault Community Theatre Centre continues to be a hub of creativity for generations to come.”
Event Highlights and Performers
The gala will feature a diverse array of performances from local talent, ensuring an engaging evening for attendees. Among the performers are the Northern Arts Academy Children’s Choir, Riley Korschin, Road Trip, and the Cantation Choir. Additional acts will include the Elite Dance Force, Company Medley, West End Theatre Productions, Kim’s Story, Achord Choir, Jeffrey Wright, and Mi Tierra.
The event will be directed by René Baillargeon, with Andrew Stuetz serving as the master of ceremonies. This lineup promises to deliver an unforgettable experience, showcasing the vibrant talent within the community.
As the theatre marks this significant anniversary, attendees are encouraged to join in the celebration. Tickets for the event are available through the theatre’s website, where visitors can find more information about the evening’s festivities.
In summary, the 35th anniversary gala of the Sault Community Theatre Centre serves not only as a celebration of its rich history but also as a reminder of the importance of the arts in fostering community spirit. The SCTC continues to play a crucial role in the cultural fabric of Sault Ste. Marie, ensuring that the performing arts thrive for years to come.
