Lake Country Seeks Public Feedback on Winery Capacity Expansion

Residents of the District of Lake Country are being invited to share their opinions on a proposal to significantly increase the capacity of the Gray Monk Estate Winery. The winery has submitted an application to the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch to enhance its existing lounge and special event area, raising the capacity from 65 to 200 guests.
The proposed expansion is part of the winery’s efforts to accommodate a growing number of visitors and enhance its services. This change aims to better serve both local residents and tourists, reflecting the rising popularity of wine tourism in the region. The winery, located at the heart of Lake Country, has been a staple in the community and a significant contributor to the local economy.
Residents can voice their opinions on the proposed changes by submitting feedback to the Planning and Development Department. Written comments can be sent by mail to 10150 Bottom Wood Lake Road or via email at [email protected]. The deadline for submissions is set for 4:30 p.m. on October 7, 2023.
The feedback collected will be instrumental in guiding the district’s decision-making process regarding the winery’s capacity increase. Local officials emphasize that community input is vital for ensuring that developments align with the interests of residents and maintain the area’s character.
The expansion proposal reflects broader trends in the wine industry, where many establishments are adapting to meet increased consumer demand. As wine tourism grows, wineries across various regions are seeking ways to enhance visitor experiences, which often includes expanding capacity to host larger events.
Residents are encouraged to participate actively in this discussion, as their insights will help shape the future of the winery and its role within the Lake Country community. As the deadline approaches, the District of Lake Country looks forward to receiving diverse perspectives from its residents on this important proposal.
