Stillman Valley Students Launch T-Shirt Fundraiser for Breast Cancer Awareness

Students from Stillman Valley High School are taking action to support breast cancer awareness through a fundraising initiative. The school’s National Honor Society (NHS) is selling T-shirts to benefit the Swedish American Health Foundation’s Carbone Cancer Center in Rockford. This initiative aims to raise funds and awareness for a cause that affects many, as statistics indicate that 1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer.
The NHS has already made a significant impact, donating $1,500 to the Carbone Cancer Center. The T-shirts are priced at $15 each and can be ordered by filling out a form available in the front office of Stillman Valley High School. For further inquiries, interested buyers can contact Michelle Rogers via email at [email protected]. All payments should be directed to Rogers at the school.
Orders for the T-shirts must be submitted by October 8, 2023. The shirts will be available for pickup at the school on October 16, 2023, and organizers encourage everyone to wear them during the home football game on October 17, 2023.
In addition to the T-shirts, the NHS will also offer breast cancer ribbons. These ribbons provide an opportunity for community members to honor loved ones who have been affected by the disease. During halftime of the varsity football game, attendees will hold up the ribbons in a moment of recognition and remembrance for those who are battling breast cancer. Proceeds from the sale of these ribbons will be donated to the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Rockford, further contributing to the fight against this illness.
Through this initiative, the students of Stillman Valley High School are not only raising funds but are also fostering a greater awareness of breast cancer and its impact on individuals and families. Their efforts exemplify community spirit and the importance of supporting those in need.
