Halton Hills Library Upgrades Systems, Services Paused Until Launch

The Halton Hills Public Library is set to launch a significant system upgrade on October 22, 2023, aimed at enhancing user access to collections and services. This new system will introduce a revamped library catalogue, a new program and events calendar, as well as text notifications and a dedicated mobile app. Additional features are planned for rollout throughout the remainder of this year and into 2026.
In preparation for this transition, the library has paused several services until the launch date. Users will be unable to sign into their online accounts, renew or place holds, make fine payments, or access certain digital resources, including eBooks and audio books. Despite these temporary suspensions, essential services remain operational. Patrons can still borrow materials in-branch, register for library cards, sign up for programs, and book rooms. Returns can be made at all library locations and in the bins located at the Gellert Centre.
To accommodate this downtime, the due dates for all borrowed materials will be extended to November 4, 2023. The library encourages users to verify that their email addresses are current, as future notifications regarding holds and overdue items will be communicated via email. Once the new system is operational, patrons will also have the ability to opt for text notifications.
For those who wish to retain their reading history, it is advisable to export a copy before the implementation of the upgrade. Library staff will be available to assist with in-person checkouts and other services during the transition period.
For more details and updates concerning the upcoming system launch, interested individuals can visit the library’s official website.
