Prince Albert Catholic School Division Unveils Strategic Plan Focus

The Prince Albert Catholic School Division is set to introduce its next Strategic Plan during upcoming School Community Council (SCC) reports for October and November. Director of Education Lorel Trumier presented the details during a regular trustee meeting on October 6, 2023. The strategic plan will outline the division’s goals from 2026 to 2030 and is a key focus of the discussions with local SCCs.
Trumier emphasized the importance of gathering feedback from the community regarding educational aspirations. “I will be looking forward to going to the SCCs and meeting with them and sharing the results more intimately with them and discussing what their hopes and dreams are for their children’s education,” she stated.
In addition to the strategic plan, the division is promoting the recently announced School Playground Equipment Grant program. This initiative, launched by the province, aims to enhance playground facilities on school properties across Saskatchewan. Schools can apply for up to $50,000 in matching funds to either construct new playgrounds or upgrade existing equipment. The application window opened on September 9, 2025, and will close on February 25, 2026, operating on a first-come, first-served basis.
Trumier highlighted the significance of this program, stating, “We want to make sure that we share that information as well.” The grant is available to school community councils and parent groups associated with publicly funded schools, including public, separate, Francophone, and independent institutions.
Engagement with Local Legislators
On October 3, 2023, trustees engaged with local Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) during a meeting that addressed both the successes and challenges faced by the division. Trumier noted that the discussions were productive, with representatives from the offices of Prince Albert Carlton MLA and Alana Ross from Prince Albert Northcote expressing a desire to continue the dialogue.
“The meeting was very successful, and they were present, they were listening. They’ve indicated they would like to meet with us again,” Trumier remarked. She expressed appreciation for the willingness of the MLAs to engage further on issues vital to the local community.
The combination of the strategic planning process and the playground grant initiative reflects the Prince Albert Catholic School Division’s commitment to enhancing educational and recreational opportunities for students. With the feedback from SCCs and ongoing communication with local legislators, the division aims to align its goals with the community’s needs, fostering a supportive environment for education in Saskatchewan.
