Armani Group Appoints Giuseppe Marsocci as New CEO Following Designer’s Death

The Armani Group has appointed Giuseppe Marsocci as the new chief executive officer, following the death of renowned designer Giorgio Armani in September 2023. Marsocci, who has been closely associated with Armani for years, will take on the leadership role as the luxury fashion empire navigates this significant transition.
Marsocci, aged 61, joined the Armani Group in 2003 and has spent over a decade in the New York office. In the past six years, he served as the deputy general manager and global chief commercial officer, directly reporting to Armani. His extensive experience and close working relationship with the late designer positioned him as a natural successor for the role.
Leadership Changes at Armani Group
Alongside Marsocci, the leadership team will include Leo Dell’Orco, Armani’s long-time partner, who has been appointed chairman of the board of directors, and Silvana Armani, the designer’s niece, who will serve as vice-president. The group stated that the board of directors will finalize its structure in the coming weeks, following the completion of procedures related to Armani’s will.
The appointment of Marsocci is seen as a crucial step in maintaining continuity within the company. “This is an important confirmation of the united will of the Armani family to continue the project that Giorgio Armani has built and sustained for 50 years,” the group emphasized in a statement. Marsocci expressed his commitment to enhancing the brand, acknowledging the challenges facing the luxury market. He stated, “The goal is challenging, especially in a luxury market undergoing deep reflection.”
Legacy of Giorgio Armani
Giorgio Armani, who passed away at the age of 91, was instrumental in establishing a global luxury empire that encompasses everything from haute couture to hospitality. Known for his independent spirit, he maintained tight control over his brand throughout his life. However, in his will, he entrusted his heirs with the responsibility of managing the future of the company, indicating a shift towards a new phase in the brand’s evolution.
Marsocci’s leadership will be pivotal as the Armani Group seeks to honor its founder’s legacy while adapting to changing market dynamics. With a workforce of 2,400 employees representing 100 different nationalities, the company is poised to continue its influence in the global luxury sector.
In conclusion, the Armani Group’s transition to new leadership under Marsocci reflects a blend of continuity and innovation, with a focus on sustaining the brand’s prestigious status in the world of luxury fashion.
