Trio Bohémo, a celebrated Czech chamber music ensemble, is set to perform at The Loft on November 6, 2023, at 19:30. Since its formation in 2019, Trio Bohémo has rapidly gained recognition on the international music scene. Their notable achievements include winning the first prize at the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Austria in 2021, followed closely by the prestigious International Parkhouse Award in London. These accolades highlight the ensemble’s commitment to excellence and innovation in classical music.
Rapid Ascent in the Classical Music World
The trio made a significant impact early in their career, securing second prize at the Gianni Bergamo Award in Lugano, Switzerland. This success led to their inclusion in the Le Dimore del Quartetto network, which honored them with the title of Ensemble of the Year in 2021. Their accolades continued to mount, as they received several special prizes at the ISA Festival in Austria, recognizing their outstanding interpretations of works by notable composers, including Bohuslav Martinů.
In subsequent years, Trio Bohémo maintained its momentum, achieving further successes in various competitions. They were featured on BBC Radio’s 3 In Tune program, amplifying their reach and visibility. Their performance at the Stasys Vainiunas International Chamber Music Competition in Vilnius, Lithuania, earned them both first prize and an award for the best interpretation of a composition by S. Vainiunas.
The trio’s prowess was again acknowledged at the International Joseph Joachim Competition in Weimar, where they received the top prize despite the absence of a first prize. Their accolades at the ISA Festival reaffirmed their status as leading performers, as they were awarded for the best chamber music ensemble with piano.
Diverse Performances and Collaborations
In 2023, Trio Bohémo further solidified its reputation by winning first prize and the audience prize at the International Joseph Haydn Chamber Music Competition in Vienna. They also earned third prize and the audience prize at the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, along with three special prizes at the ARD International Music Competition. Recently, they were selected to receive the distinguished prize from the Czech Chamber Music Society, further emphasizing their prominence in the classical music community.
The trio’s performance history includes prestigious venues such as the Vienna Musikverein and Wigmore Hall in London, as well as Stoller Hall in Manchester. Their festival appearances span notable events including the Prague Spring Festival, the Schwarzwald Musikfestival in Germany, and the Festival van Vlaanderen in Belgium.
Trio Bohémo has benefited from the mentorship of esteemed musicians during their time as members of the European Chamber Music Academy from 2020 to 2022. They studied under the guidance of renowned figures, including Hatto Beyerle and Johannes Meissl.
Each member of the trio is equipped with exceptional instruments, enhancing their performances. Matouš plays a replica of the Antonio Stradivari ‘Willemotte’ violin, crafted by Florian Leonhard, along with a unique violin by Matteo Goffriller. Kristina plays a cello by Fausto Maria Bertucci, contributing to their dynamic sound.
With an impressive track record and a passion for music, Trio Bohémo is poised to deliver an unforgettable experience at The Loft.
