Discover Four Innovative Canadian Suppliers at Loblaw Stores

The Loblaw Small Supplier Program is enhancing grocery shopping experiences by introducing over 1,000 small Canadian suppliers to its stores nationwide. This initiative allows consumers to support local businesses while enjoying innovative products in the snack aisle. With a focus on quality and community, Loblaw is championing local entrepreneurs who are passionate about creating healthier food options.
Supporting Local Innovation
The program emphasizes that significant food innovations often originate from small, local creators. By providing a platform for these businesses, Loblaw helps them navigate the complexities of retail while promoting the buy local movement. The initiative not only showcases unique products but also fosters a sense of community among consumers and suppliers.
Among the notable suppliers featured in this program are:
Healthy Crunch, founded by registered dietitian and trained chef Julie Bednarski, offers a range of snacks and spreads that are free from the top 11 food allergens and entirely vegan. Bednarski expressed pride in being part of the Loblaw Small Supplier Program, stating, “This program helps Canadian entrepreneurs like us bring innovative, better-for-you foods to families nationwide by championing the buy local movement.”
Farm Girl is another standout, providing high-protein, sugar-free cereals that cater to both children and adults. Their product lineup includes enticing options like Cinnamon Crisps and Chocolate Puffs. The company credits its partnership with Loblaw as essential for its growth, allowing it to reach a broader audience.
WowButter addresses the increasing need for nut-free alternatives in schools. Their peanut butter substitute has gained popularity, particularly with the introduction of their new grab-and-go product, SnackEh, which combines WowButter with jelly in a convenient wrap. The company is optimistic about its ongoing collaboration with Loblaw, which has provided the momentum needed for further advancements.
Another noteworthy supplier is FreeYumm, a mom-owned business that focuses on allergen-friendly snacks. Their range includes crackers, cookies, and bars in flavors like double chocolate and banana maple. Owner Sarah Clarke highlighted the crucial role Loblaw played in her company’s growth, stating, “Loblaw has supported our vision in its entirety.”
Exploring Local Offerings
With these four suppliers leading the charge, there are still 996 more small suppliers waiting to be discovered in Loblaw stores. Shoppers can find these high-quality, Canadian-made products at locations including Real Canadian Superstore, No Frills, Fortinos, Zehrs, and Your Independent Grocers.
As you navigate the aisles next time, consider asking local managers about their top local suppliers. This inquiry could lead to the discovery of new favorite products that not only satisfy your taste buds but also support the hardworking entrepreneurs behind them. The Loblaw Small Supplier Program reflects a commitment to fostering local talent and enhancing the grocery shopping experience for all consumers.
