Collingwood’s Boil Water Advisory Persists; Bottled Water Available

Residents of the Town of Collingwood are advised that the boil water advisory issued on March 15, 2024, remains in effect. This decision comes after a watermain break that occurred in the early hours of Friday. Although repairs were completed by 02:45 a.m. on Saturday, the town confirmed that water quality testing results will not be available until after the weekend. Consequently, the advisory will remain until the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit verifies that the water is safe for consumption.

The break led to significant water loss, prompting municipal officials to urge residents to conserve water usage. The intersection of Pretty River Parkway and Hume Street, where the incident occurred, has been designated as an area to avoid. Throughout the watermain break, the Water Treatment Plant continued to operate, with staff working diligently to maintain system pressure and restore emergency levels within the reservoirs and water tower.

In a subsequent notice issued on Saturday morning, the town announced the establishment of bottled water distribution stations for residents unable to boil water. These stations will operate from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at two locations: Central Park Area (85 Patterson Street) and the Royal Canadian Legion (490 Ontario Street). Each household is eligible to receive one case of bottled water.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated on the situation as the town continues to monitor the water quality and will provide further information once the advisory is lifted.
