Local Candy Store Delivers Holiday Cheer with 168 Santa Replies
The team at Cantac Candies in Castlegar took an active role in spreading holiday joy this Christmas season by responding to letters addressed to Santa Claus. The popular candy store launched a free Santa letter drop-off and reply program that encouraged local children to submit their handwritten letters. This initiative saw participation from 168 children, who expressed their wishes and posed questions for Santa.
Amber Berukoff, the program’s organizer, highlighted the community’s involvement in making this initiative a success. “With the help of dedicated volunteers and the generosity of our customers through candy and supply donations, every single letter was answered,” she stated. Each child not only received a personalized response from Santa but also a small bag of candy as a festive treat.
Emphasizing Creativity and Community Spirit
To celebrate the creativity of the young writers, the organizers selected some standout letters, but Berukoff made it clear that the goal was not to create competition. Instead, the focus was on acknowledging the effort, imagination, and care that the children put into their letters. “This program exists purely because of community support — volunteers who give their time, customers who donate, and families who believe in keeping a little holiday magic alive,” she explained.
The initiative reflects a broader commitment to fostering connections within the local community. The engagement from families and the enthusiasm from volunteers underscores the importance of collective effort in making the holiday season special for children. Berukoff expressed gratitude towards everyone involved, stating, “We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make this possible and proud to offer something that brings joy, connection, and kindness to local kids.”
Cantac Candies serves as a reminder of the impact that small businesses can have in their communities, particularly during the festive season. By providing a platform for children to engage with the spirit of Christmas, the store not only promotes its products but also cultivates a sense of belonging and joy for families in the region.
