Vancouver Penthouse with Sky Pool Sells for $15 Million
A luxury penthouse in Vancouver featuring a distinctive sky pool has sold for $15 million, significantly below its initial asking price of $21.9 million. This property, located at 1568 Alberni St., was on the market for over a year before finding a buyer earlier this week. The final sale price was slightly above the most recent assessed value of $14,997,000.
The penthouse, referred to as PH1, was listed earlier this year after a price reduction to $16.9 million. According to Zealty, the property remained unsold for a total of 431 days, a notable duration in the high-end real estate market.
Luxury Features and Design
Described as a “skyhome” by Sotheby’s International Realty Canada, the penthouse boasts breathtaking views of the city and was designed by acclaimed Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. The property spans 4,346 sq. ft. and includes three bedrooms and five bathrooms, one of which offers a view of Vancouver from the bathtub.
The sky pool, a standout feature, not only provides stunning panoramas but also allows for visibility into the penthouse itself. The living and dining areas are expansive, with 20-foot ceilings that reflect light beautifully from the glass-bottom swimming pool and spa above. Furthermore, the penthouse encompasses three levels, each accessible via a private glass elevator, and includes three outdoor terraces.
Additional luxury amenities enhance this unique residence, such as quartzite countertops, suede wallpaper, and lighting designed by artist Enzo Catellani & Bocci. The primary bedroom features a soaker tub, while the condo also includes four wine lockers and access to a 24/7 concierge service alongside world-class amenities.
The sale of this penthouse raises intriguing questions about the luxury real estate market in Vancouver, particularly regarding buyer willingness to invest in high-value properties amidst fluctuating market conditions. As luxury listings continue to evolve, the sale of this skyhome reflects both the allure and challenges of premium real estate in one of Canada’s most vibrant cities.
