Kristin Kennedy to Lead Windsor Regional Hospital in 2026
Kristin Kennedy, the president and chief executive officer of Erie Shores HealthCare, will depart from her position in spring 2026 to assume the role of president and CEO at Windsor Regional Hospital. The announcement was made on Monday by the hospital’s board of directors, confirming that Kennedy will remain with Erie Shores until March 22, 2026.
In a statement, board chair Duffy Kniaziew expressed gratitude for Kennedy’s leadership, particularly during challenging times, including the COVID-19 pandemic and a recent cyberattack. “On behalf of Erie Shores HealthCare’s Board of Directors, I want to congratulate Kristin as she begins preparations for the next stage of her career,” Kniaziew said. He highlighted her dedication and the significant hours she has contributed to the organization and the community over the past seven years.
Kennedy acknowledged that her decision to leave was not made lightly. “Working alongside the team at ESHC has meant a great deal to me,” she commented. “I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with people who are deeply committed, thoughtful, and passionate about the work they do every day, and that’s something I will always carry with me.”
Transition Plans and Future Leadership
To ensure a seamless transition during this period, the board plans to appoint an interim CEO later this winter. This move is aimed at maintaining stability while supporting the hospital’s long-term planning initiatives. Kniaziew emphasized that the transition will focus on what matters most: delivering safe, high-quality care for patients and fostering a supportive workplace for staff.
The board expressed confidence in the hospital’s existing leadership team and staff. They reassured stakeholders that continuity of care and clear communication will remain top priorities throughout the transition process. As decisions are finalized, further information will be shared with the community.
Kennedy’s departure marks a significant change for Erie Shores HealthCare, where her leadership has been pivotal in navigating some of the most challenging moments in recent healthcare history. Her future role at Windsor Regional Hospital is anticipated to build upon her extensive experience and commitment to healthcare excellence.
