Senior Dogs Magik and Misfit Seek Care After Owner’s Passing

Two senior dogs, Magik and Misfit, urgently require dental care following the death of their owner, leading to their surrender to the Langley Animal Protection Society (LAPS) in Aldergrove. Their next of kin made the difficult decision to surrender the dogs, who have been bonded throughout their lives. LAPS is now raising $5,000 to cover their medical expenses.

These dogs face significant health challenges as they enter their golden years. According to LAPS, both dogs must receive treatment for severe dental issues before they can be adopted into a new home. “Now, as they face their golden years, they are also facing serious medical challenges that must be addressed before they can begin a new chapter in a forever home,” LAPS stated on their fundraising page.

Magik is suffering from advanced periodontal disease and requires a complex procedure that may involve the extraction of up to 16 teeth. Misfit, on the other hand, has even more complicated medical needs, including a grade 4 heart murmur, painful knee issues, early signs of kidney disease, and severe dental disease. LAPS noted that these conditions are also impacting their ability to eat, further complicating their health.

The organization is appealing to the public for assistance, emphasizing the importance of community support in providing the necessary care for these dogs. Donations can be made through a Zeffy fundraiser linked on LAPS’ official Facebook page.

“With your help, we can relieve their pain, restore their comfort, and give Misfit and Magik the chance to spend their remaining years wrapped in the love they’ve always known,” LAPS expressed in their message to potential donors.
