A Toronto boy who gained social media fame for his candid remarks about shovelling snow has embraced the winter chore four years later. In a recent interview with CP24, Carter Trozzolo reflected on his transformation from an exhausted snow shoveller to someone who now enjoys the task.

Carter became a household name after a January 2022 report by CTV News featured him expressing his weariness while clearing snow during a storm. His relatable sighs and candid remarks resonated with many, capturing the challenges of winter in Canada. This week, as Toronto braces for another significant snowstorm that could bring up to 35 cm of snow, Carter’s attitude has shifted considerably.

“I’ve started to love shovelling a lot more now,” Carter told CP24’s Nick Dixon while shovelling outside his home. He acknowledged that the task is still substantial, but his perspective has changed. Reflecting on the previous report, he admitted, “Yes, I definitely have,” when asked if his feelings about shovelling snow have improved.

In the 2022 interview, a younger Carter was seen bundled up and shovelling snow for his family and neighbors. At that time, he expressed a desire to be at school instead, stating, “I really wish I was in school right now,” and added, “(sigh) I’m tired.” Now, at four years older, he enjoys the opportunity to help others.

Carter clarified that financial gain is not his motivation. “I don’t think it’s about the money. I like to help,” he said. “I like to give back to the community, so it’s just a fun little thing.” Like many children in the Greater Toronto Area, he is taking advantage of the snow day to engage in outdoor activities. “Shovelling snow, playing in the snow, just everything with snow today!” he enthusiastically shared.

During the interview, Carter demonstrated his shovelling technique, explaining, “Just pushing the snow and hope it goes off (the shovel).” He plans to assist his neighbors throughout the day, acknowledging, “It’s going to be a long day.”

Carter’s experience as a viral news subject has left a lasting impression on him. “I was astounded by how many people actually saw me and noticed me and wanted to talk to me. And I just loved it. I loved being known,” he said, reflecting on the unexpected attention he received.
