Carson Kay Leads Team Ontario to Provincial Championship Victory
Carson Kay has been recognized as the Cool 100 and Hits 95.5 Athlete of the Week following his exceptional performance in the recent Ontario Provincial Championships. Competing as part of Team MacDougall, Kay and his team triumphed in Kitchener, securing their spot as representatives for Team Ontario at the upcoming New Holland Juniors Canadian Championship in Sudbury from March 28 to April 4.
Commitment to Excellence in Curling
Over the years, Carson Kay has made a name for himself in competitive curling, participating in various leagues including the Quinte Curling Club, Land O’Lakes in Tweed, and St. Theresa’s High School. His dedication to the sport is evident in his commitment to travel to Fergus Curling Club each week for team practices.
This season, the team has displayed remarkable teamwork and resilience, often competing in the Junior Slam Series and regularly practicing together. Kay drives to Fergus every Thursday night for league play and dedicates at least two weekends a month to competitions across the province.
Outside of scheduled practices, Kay can often be found honing his skills at the Quinte Curling Club. “You might see Carson throwing rock after rock, always striving to perfect his performance,” noted a teammate. This relentless pursuit of improvement has played a critical role in his team’s success.
Recognition and Rewards
As the Athlete of the Week, Kay not only gains recognition for his achievements but also receives a $25 Canadian Tire gift card courtesy of Fuzion HVAC Design, along with vouchers for two free extra value meals from participating McDonald’s locations in Trenton, Brighton, and Campbellford.
The Cool 100 and Hits 95.5 Athlete of the Week program encourages community involvement by inviting nominations for local athletes.
