Frances Kelsey Senior Isabella Baker Named October Student of the Month
The Rotary Club of Duncan has awarded Isabella (Bella) Baker the prestigious title of Student of the Month for October. The recognition was presented on November 12, 2023, by Rotary president Bob Cairns, alongside Kevin van der Linden, principal of Frances Kelsey Secondary School.
Baker, a senior at Frances Kelsey, has made significant contributions to her school community. Principal van der Linden highlighted her commitment to improving the student experience, noting her role as president of the Student Leadership Program. In this capacity, Baker actively assists her peers in navigating the daily challenges high school presents.
In addition to her leadership role, Baker serves as the editor of the school yearbook. She frequently dedicates her time to mentor younger students, helping them manage the pressures associated with their academic and social lives. With graduation on the horizon, Baker plans to further her education in September 2024.
The Duncan Rotary Club, established in 1930, is comprised of community-minded individuals focused on giving back and enhancing the lives of those in need. The Student of the Month Award aims to recognize students who demonstrate leadership, dedication, and a commitment to their peers.
Baker’s accomplishments reflect the values the Rotary Club seeks to promote within the community. As she prepares for her next steps, her influence at Frances Kelsey will likely continue to inspire fellow students.
