The popular Free Lunch Program is making its return to Park Place in Streator, providing a complimentary meal to the community. This initiative, sponsored by Deacon’s and the Hardscrabble Lions, will take place on the second Saturday of each month, with the next event scheduled for March 14, 2024.

From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., guests will be treated to a hearty meal prepared by the SHS Key Club, featuring shredded pork with gravy, mashed potatoes, corn, dessert, and a beverage. The meal is free and open to everyone in the community, offering both dine-in and carry-out options.

The Free Lunch Program aims to foster community spirit and ensure that everyone has access to nutritious meals. Organizations interested in hosting a future event can reach out to Karyn at 815-674-3931 for more information.

This initiative not only addresses food insecurity but also promotes local engagement, bringing together residents and community groups. By participating in this program, individuals can enjoy a meal while connecting with their neighbors, reinforcing the importance of community support.

As the program resumes, organizers encourage widespread participation to help ensure its success and sustainability.
