Kimberley Opens Nominations for 2025 Community Award Honouring Jack Ratcliffe
The City of Kimberley is inviting nominations for the 2025 Commitment to Community Award, honouring the legacy of Jack Ratcliffe. This annual award celebrates individuals or groups who have made significant contributions to the community through their time, actions, and dedication.
Established in 2020, the award commemorates Jack Ratcliffe, whose decades of volunteerism and service profoundly influenced Kimberley. Ratcliffe passed away in December 2025, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of community commitment. His name is synonymous with the spirit of giving and civic pride that defines Kimberley.
A Tribute to Community Spirit
“Jack was the embodiment of community spirit,” said Mayor Don McCormick. “His decades of service, generosity, and leadership touched every corner of Kimberley. With Jack’s passing this past fall, this award takes on added significance this year.”
The award aims to recognise those who continue Ratcliffe’s tradition of selfless service. Nominees must be residents of Kimberley, with no age restriction, and should have demonstrated a long-term commitment to the community for a minimum of three years. Their contributions should have significantly enhanced the quality of life for Kimberley residents through volunteerism, leadership, and service.
Nomination Process and Award Details
The recipient of the award will have their name engraved on the “Jack Ratcliffe Commitment to Community” plaque displayed at City Hall. Additionally, they will receive an award and a donation of $500 to a registered not-for-profit or incorporated charity of their choice.
Nominations can be submitted until February 2, 2025, using the form available at www.kimberley.ca/community-grants. The city encourages residents to recognise and celebrate those who embody the values that Jack Ratcliffe represented.
This initiative not only honours Ratcliffe’s memory but also supports the ongoing spirit of community involvement that remains vital to Kimberley’s identity.
