Walnut Grove Students Host Trading Card Show for Sick Children
Students from Walnut Grove Secondary School are set to make a significant impact on the lives of sick children by hosting a charity trading card show and donation drive on March 7, 2024. This initiative, organized by the school’s Marketing 11 class, aims to raise funds for the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.
The event will showcase a variety of trading cards, including popular games such as Pokemon and Magic: The Gathering, as well as sports cards and other merchandise. According to Peter Curson, the business teacher overseeing the project, the event serves as a means for students to engage with their community. “This event is a way for us to positively impact our community and kids’ lives,” Curson stated. He encourages the community to participate, enjoy the day, and contribute to a worthy cause.
Event Details and Community Participation
The trading card show is designed to be family-friendly, appealing to collectors and casual attendees alike. Tickets will be sold at the door for $5, while children aged 11 and under can attend for free. In addition to ticket sales, students and volunteers will be collecting donations of trading cards, merchandise, and accessories, which will be distributed to patients at the hospital.
All proceeds from ticket sales, donations, and sponsorships will go directly to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. The event opens at 10 a.m. and will run until 4 p.m. at the school, located at 8999 Walnut Grove Dr..
Currently, the event is seeking additional vendors and sponsors who wish to support this charitable initiative. Those interested in participating can reach out to Curson via email at [email protected].
This charity event not only provides a platform for trading card enthusiasts but also fosters a spirit of giving within the community, highlighting the importance of coming together to support children in need.
