Australia Did It Demo Launches at Steam Next Fest This Month
Indie publisher Mystic Forge, in collaboration with renowned game designer Rami Ismail and co-developer Aesthetician Labs, has announced the debut of its highly anticipated game, Australia Did It. Players will have the opportunity to experience a playable demo during the Steam Next Fest from February 23 to March 2, 2024. This event offers a unique chance to explore the game’s innovative blend of Tower Defense and Reverse Bullet Hell mechanics.
The game places players in the role of the last line of defense for a heavily guarded freight train navigating the desolate Atlantic basin, a landscape altered by a mysterious catastrophe. As the train makes its way from station to station, players are tasked with deploying mercenaries to fend off waves of relentless enemies. The primary objective is clear: protect the valuable cargo at all costs, while survival remains optional.
Gameplay Mechanics and Strategy
Strategic preparation is vital. Before the train departs from each station, players must wisely position a limited number of units to withstand incoming assaults. This setup fosters fast-paced tactical encounters that reward smart positioning and quick decision-making. During gameplay, participants can merge units to create more powerful or specialized variants, offering over 1,500 possible combinations with more than 30 unit types available.
As the train speeds along its route, the gameplay transitions into high-intensity Reverse Bullet Hell action. Players become the source of overwhelming firepower, cutting through massive swarms of enemies in chaotic rail battles. Throughout each run, players earn reward cards that unlock unique bonuses, allowing them to adapt their strategies and build creative synergies as the game progresses.
Future Plans and Community Engagement
Australia Did It is set to officially launch on PC via Steam in 2026. Players can wishlist the game now and join the official Discord community to stay updated on future announcements. A new trailer for the game will premiere on February 19, 2024, during Indie Fan Fest, providing a sneak peek into the captivating world and gameplay mechanics.
As anticipation builds for the demo and eventual release, Mystic Forge and its collaborators are poised to make a significant impact in the indie gaming scene.
