Calgary Trucker Arrested in U.S. Child Exploitation Sting
A **Calgary** man faces serious charges in the United States following an undercover investigation into online child exploitation. **Kelly Maier**, aged 41, was arrested in **Idaho Falls**, Idaho, on **December 18, 2025**. He is charged with one count of enticing a minor, according to **Idaho Attorney General Raul Labrador**. The case has drawn attention due to its connection with multiple state law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation.
The arrest stemmed from a coordinated effort led by Idaho’s **Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit**, which received assistance from various local law enforcement agencies. In a public statement, Attorney General Labrador emphasized the importance of these collaborative efforts in protecting children and families. He expressed gratitude for the partnerships that have enabled authorities to apprehend individuals posing a risk to minors.
“Thanks to the strong partnerships we’ve built with law enforcement across Idaho, individuals like this are being arrested for these terrible crimes against children and families,” Labrador stated. “When agencies coordinate like this, those who threaten our kids get removed from our streets. I am grateful for these partnerships and the commitment every officer brings to protecting Idaho’s children.”
The investigation began on **December 8, 2025**, when an undercover detective from the ICAC task force created a fake profile portraying a teenage girl. The detective received messages from a user claiming to be a 37-year-old man. Upon informing the user that the girl was 14 years old, the man continued to engage in conversation, identifying himself as a truck driver and requesting the girl to refer to him as “daddy.”
According to U.S. media outlets, court records indicate that Maier arranged to meet the girl at a gas station, where law enforcement officers were waiting to make the arrest. This operation is part of a larger initiative to combat online child exploitation and safeguard vulnerable youth from potential harm.
A preliminary hearing in Maier’s case is set for **January 13, 2026**, at the **Bonneville County Magistrate Court**. As the legal proceedings unfold, this case underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in addressing child exploitation in the digital age.
The swift actions taken by authorities highlight the critical role of technology and inter-agency collaboration in identifying and apprehending offenders. The outcome of this case will be closely monitored as it raises awareness about the importance of protecting children from exploitation in an increasingly connected world.
