Carson Bivins Scores 26 Points, Surpasses 1,000 Career Milestone
In an impressive display of skill and determination, Carson Bivins of Faith Christian surpassed the significant milestone of 1,000 career points during a recent basketball game against Unity Christian. Bivins led his team to a commanding victory with a personal tally of 26 points, contributing to a final score of 72-30.
Bivins’ achievement adds to an already stellar season for the Falcons, who have demonstrated consistent performance on the court. In this particular matchup, Brody Bodzioch also made a notable contribution, scoring 12 points and helping secure the win for Faith Christian.
In other boys’ basketball action, Byron defeated Oregon with a score of 53-31. Cooper Johnson led Oregon with nine points, while Keaton Salsbury added eight. The game underscored Oregon’s struggles this season.
Meanwhile, Pearl City delivered a dominating performance against Polo, winning 60-29. The home team established an early lead, outscoring Polo 20-2 in the first quarter. JT Stephenson managed to score 10 points for Polo, but it was not enough to turn the tide.
In another matchup, St. Bede triumphed over Amboy with a score of 63-41. Colt McCoy led Amboy with 19 points, but the team faced a significant deficit at halftime, trailing 38-16. The defeat marked another challenging day for the Amboy squad.
Additionally, Galesburg secured a 54-35 victory over Sterling, leaving Sterling with a season record of 4-14 and 2-4 in the Western Big 6 Conference play.
Girls Basketball Highlights
In the realm of girls’ basketball, Eastland dominated Morrison, winning decisively 39-11. Morgan McCullough was the standout player for Eastland, scoring 21 points, while Trixie Carroll contributed an additional 11 points. Avery White managed to score five points for Morrison, but the team struggled throughout the game.
Another notable game featured Dakota, which defeated Forreston 50-32. Hailee Vogt led Dakota with 12 points, while Tenlei Patterson scored nine for Forreston.
The Fulton Steamers also earned a victory, overcoming Polo with a score of 55-41. Wrenn Coffey was instrumental in the win, scoring 21 points, while Breleigh Hayton added 20. Unfortunately, Cam Jones managed to score 23 points for Polo, but it was not enough to clinch a win.
Bowling Results
In bowling, the girls’ competition saw Dixon triumph over Rockford Christian with a score of 2,620 to 1,927. Madolynn Kirby led Dixon with a series high of 487.
On the boys’ side, Sterling achieved a score of 2,945 against Erie-Prophetstown, which tallied 2,885. Grady Witmer stood out for Sterling with a personal best series of 605, including a high game of 224. For Erie-Prophetstown, Zach Phillips led the Panthers with a score of 665.
These recent games showcase the talent and competitive spirit present in the local sports community, highlighting individual achievements and team dynamics across various competitions.
