City of Prince Albert Adjusts Transit Services Due to Snow
Severe winter weather is disrupting transit services in the City of Prince Albert. Following two days of snowfall, the city has advised riders to check for updates on route changes through their online transit app. The adverse conditions have forced Prince Albert Transit to modify its operations, resulting in some routes being temporarily suspended or shifted to an hourly service.
According to a statement from the city, “Colder temperatures and snowfall have impacted transit operations, resulting in some routes being taken offline or temporarily moved to hourly service. Prince Albert Transit is actively working to maintain coverage across the system, adjust routes where necessary, and share timely updates with the public.”
As temperatures are expected to drop further toward the end of the week, the situation may worsen. Forecasts predict an additional three days of snow, with Tuesday’s projections estimating between 5 to 10 cm of accumulation, accompanied by winds reaching 15 km/h.
Riders are encouraged to subscribe to Transit News for email notifications regarding service changes. Additionally, they can track buses in real time using the Transit Live app.
On February 26, 2024, the Core Express bus did not operate, while the all-day bus and rush hour services are currently running on an hourly schedule. The East Hill and West Flat routes have also been affected, with these buses temporarily shifted to hourly service.
The city’s ongoing commitment to maintaining transit coverage amid challenging weather conditions is evident, and updates will continue to be provided as the situation evolves. Riders are urged to remain informed and plan their travels accordingly during this winter weather event.
