Local Cafe and Partners Provide 45 Turkey Boxes to Families
Forty-five families in Sault Ste. Marie will receive turkey boxes as part of a community initiative led by Feeding Your Soul Cafe. The program, known as the Giving Tree, encouraged donations from customers and local partners to support families in need during the holiday season.
The Children’s Aid Society of Algoma is responsible for distributing these boxes to families identified as benefiting most from the generous contributions. The initiative aims to alleviate some of the burdens faced by families who may be struggling financially during this time of year.
Local businesses joined forces in this effort, including PUC, S&T Group, Sweet Greetings, Repair Inc., Trimount Construction, CAVACTIS Public Relations, Pet Smart, Henderson Metal, Wholesale Club, Algoma Autism Society, and the Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District. Together, these organizations collaborated with the cafe and the Children’s Aid Society to ensure that the turkey boxes reach families in need.
Mary Greenwood, owner of Feeding Your Soul Cafe, emphasized the importance of community support, stating, “A meal and a moment of joy can mean so much to families who may be struggling.” This sentiment reflects the spirit of the initiative, which seeks to spread goodwill and support within the community.
The Giving Tree program has become a vital part of the cafe’s outreach, allowing patrons to contribute directly to the welfare of local families. Each turkey box is not only a meal but also a means of bringing together the community during the festive season.
The effort highlights how local businesses can come together to make a significant impact. As the holiday season approaches, initiatives like these remind us of the importance of community support and the power of collective action in making a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
