Owners of Vancouver Island’s Scarlet Ibis Pub Seek New Buyers
The owners of the renowned Scarlet Ibis Pub on Vancouver Island are now looking to sell the property. Located in the remote community of Holberg, this iconic establishment has catered to hikers, travelers, and locals for nearly 50 years. After four decades of ownership, Pat Gwynne sold the pub in 2021 to a group of 12 investors, spearheaded by Ted Sangha.
Since the acquisition, the new owners have implemented significant upgrades to enhance the visitor experience. Over the past five years, they have introduced new propane lines, upgraded the power system, and developed a new food ordering platform. Additionally, the group has constructed six Adventure Huts, designed to provide essential comforts. Each hut comes equipped with a bed and a mini-fridge, pre-stocked with Ibis beer, making them an ideal retreat after a day of exploration.
The pub has shown promising financial growth, boasting “year-over-year profit growth,” according to the real estate listing. In the first ten months of 2025, the Scarlet Ibis Pub generated over $500,000 in gross revenue, indicating its strong position in the market.
Located on the west coast of Vancouver Island, the Scarlet Ibis Pub not only serves as a destination for locals but also attracts visitors from afar. The scenic beauty of the surrounding area draws outdoor enthusiasts, while the pub itself has become a beloved spot for relaxation and social interaction.
As the current owners prepare to pass on the baton, they are inviting potential buyers to consider the unique opportunity of owning a well-established business in a picturesque setting. The combination of a loyal customer base and recent improvements positions the Scarlet Ibis Pub as an appealing investment for those looking to enter the hospitality sector on Vancouver Island.
With its rich history and ongoing profitability, the Scarlet Ibis Pub presents a rare chance to own a piece of Vancouver Island’s charm. Interested parties are encouraged to reach out and explore the potential of this distinctive establishment.
