Prince Albert Police Launches Traffic Enforcement for Holidays
The Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) is initiating high-visibility traffic enforcement initiatives throughout December 2023, aimed specifically at reducing incidents of impaired driving within the city. This effort, executed by the Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan (CTSS) Unit, is part of a broader strategy to enhance road safety as the holiday season approaches.
In a media release issued on December 5, PAPS emphasized its partnership with organizations such as Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI). The collaboration underscores a shared commitment to keeping the community safe during a time when driving under the influence often increases.
“Impaired driving is entirely preventable,” the press release stated. The police service urges residents to take proactive measures if they plan to consume alcohol or cannabis. Suggested options include arranging a safe ride, calling a sober friend or family member, taking a taxi, or even staying overnight at a friend’s house.
In addition to these recommendations, the community can also utilize safe-ride programs like Operation Red Nose, which provides volunteer drivers to ensure individuals can return home safely after celebrating. This program is particularly active during the holiday season, offering an essential service to prevent impaired driving.
The Prince Albert Police Service extends its gratitude to all residents who choose to drive sober and wishes everyone a happy, healthy, and safe holiday season. As the festivities continue, enforcement efforts will aim to deter impaired driving and promote safer road practices, reinforcing the message that responsible choices can save lives.
In summary, PAPS’s initiatives this December serve as a vital reminder of the importance of safety on the roads. With the support of community programs and partnerships, the police are hopeful for a safer holiday experience for all residents of Prince Albert.
