Sault Ste. Marie Resident Celebrates $100,000 50/50 Jackpot Win
Darlene Crozier, a resident of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, is celebrating an unexpected windfall after winning a $100,000 jackpot in the Sault Area Hospital Foundation (SAHF) December 50/50 draw. The announcement came on January 2, 2024, when Crozier received a call informing her that her ticket, numbered D-24258488, had been drawn.
Upon receiving the news, Crozier’s husband urged her to answer the call, sensing that it might be significant. “I really think you should answer this,” he said, as the foundation reached out to deliver the life-changing news. Crozier expressed her disbelief and excitement, indicating that the win would allow her to treat her grandchildren and save some for the future.
To her, this win goes beyond personal gain; it is also about contributing to a vital community service. “It’s important to support our hospital,” Crozier stated. “If you’re thinking about getting a ticket, make sure you do! It’s a great cause, and you never know who could be the next big winner.”
Supporting Local Health Care
The SAHF is dedicated to raising funds for essential medical equipment at the Sault Area Hospital. The December draw was not just a moment of joy for Crozier; it also highlighted the impact of community support. Teresa Martone, Executive Director of the SAHF, noted that the lottery program has awarded more than $1.2 million to winners throughout Algoma and Ontario in just the past year.
December’s draw also featured an early bird winner, James Erb from Port Stanley, Ontario, who took home $10,000 with ticket number D-25538599. Martone remarked on the significance of community participation, stating, “We couldn’t do this without the incredible support of ticket buyers. That support goes far beyond the big win.”
Ticket sales for the SAHF’s January 50/50 draw are currently open, with a deadline set for January 29, 2024. Participants can purchase tickets online or in person at the Sault Area Hospital Foundation Office. Prices are structured to encourage participation: ten tickets for $10, sixty for $20, two hundred for $40, or seven hundred fifty for $75.
Joining the Cause
Potential ticket buyers must be at least 18 years old and located within Ontario to participate. The foundation emphasizes that every ticket purchased contributes to funding critical medical equipment, directly benefiting the local community.
For those interested in additional ways to support the SAHF, tickets for their Split the Pot initiative are also available. More information on purchasing tickets and supporting the foundation can be found at their website, www.sahfoundation.com/STP.
With community engagement at its core, the SAHF continues to encourage residents to participate in its fundraising efforts, reinforcing the idea that every ticket purchased can lead to substantial benefits for both winners and the local healthcare system.
