Search and Rescue Teams Mobilize for Missing Man in Mission
The search for a missing 62-year-old man, Timothy Eyolfson, near Florence Lake Service Road in Mission, British Columbia, has mobilized a significant effort involving 125 searchers over three days. Eyolfson was reported missing after the last contact with him on December 14, 2023, and his vehicle was located on a logging road near Florence and Sayers Lake.
On December 23, Mission Search and Rescue (MSAR) joined forces with the Ridge Meadows RCMP to initiate a comprehensive search for Eyolfson. The operation drew support from multiple neighboring search and rescue teams, showcasing a collaborative community effort. Teams involved included members from Central Fraser Valley Search, Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue, Coquitlam Search and Rescue, Kent Harrison Search and Rescue, South Fraser Search and Rescue, Hope Search and Rescue, and Civil Air Search and Rescue.
In a statement on their Facebook page, MSAR expressed gratitude for the volunteers’ dedication: “A huge thank you to all those members who have committed to helping MSAR during this search. Your dedication and commitment to serving our community is appreciated.”
The search effort spanned from December 23 to December 25, with searchers employing various strategies, including the use of search dogs. Despite the extensive efforts, the search for Eyolfson remains ongoing. On December 29, the Ridge Meadows RCMP confirmed that investigative steps have been taken, and they continue to collaborate with other agencies to locate Eyolfson.
Eyolfson is described as being 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing approximately 235 pounds, with grey hair and hazel eyes. Family and friends have expressed significant concern for his wellbeing, prompting the police to reach out to the public for assistance. Authorities encourage anyone with information regarding Eyolfson’s whereabouts to contact the Ridge Meadows RCMP at 604-463-6251, referencing file number 2025-26458. Further updates will be provided as new information becomes available, as the search team remains committed to finding Eyolfson safely.
