Three-Year-Old Girl Killed in Tragic Cambridge Traffic Incident
A three-year-old girl tragically lost her life after being struck by a vehicle in Cambridge, Ontario, on December 7, 2023. The incident occurred just before 13:00 local time in the Cedar Street area, close to the Westgate Centre plaza. A 31-year-old woman accompanying the child sustained serious injuries, though they are not considered life-threatening.
The Waterloo Regional Police Service reported that the girl suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. At the scene, officers were seen examining a stroller, indicating the presence of the child prior to the accident.
One witness described the moment of the incident, stating, “I did happen to see a stroller just by itself on the sidewalk and that’s when I knew something bad happened and a baby was involved. It’s terrible. Right before Christmas too. I can’t believe that.”
Police have confirmed that the driver involved is a 75-year-old man from Cambridge. He was not injured in the crash. At this time, authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident.
This tragic event has deeply affected the local community, raising concerns about pedestrian safety, particularly in busy areas. The investigation into the incident is ongoing as police work to gather more information about the crash.
