A three-year-old girl tragically lost her life after being struck by a vehicle in Cambridge, Ontario, on December 7, 2023. The incident occurred just before 13:00 local time in the Cedar Street area, close to the Westgate Centre plaza. A 31-year-old woman accompanying the child sustained serious injuries, though they are not considered life-threatening.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service reported that the girl suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. At the scene, officers were seen examining a stroller, indicating the presence of the child prior to the accident.

One witness described the moment of the incident, stating, “I did happen to see a stroller just by itself on the sidewalk and that’s when I knew something bad happened and a baby was involved. It’s terrible. Right before Christmas too. I can’t believe that.”

Police have confirmed that the driver involved is a 75-year-old man from Cambridge. He was not injured in the crash. At this time, authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident.
