Todd Kyllo Joins Sicamous Planning Committee Following Resignation

Todd Kyllo has returned to the District of Sicamous council chambers as a member of the planning and development committee. His appointment follows the resignation of longtime committee member Deb Heap, effective January 1, 2026. Kyllo, a former Sicamous councillor and owner of Twin Anchors Marine, will serve a two-year term on the committee.

The decision to appoint Kyllo was made by Mayor Colleen Anderson in consultation with committee members Couns. Ian Baillie and Gord Bushell. The mayor stated that Kyllo’s experience in development, along with his knowledge of permits, zoning, and variances, made him a suitable candidate. “Based on the terms of reference, we were looking for a lot of experience in development and felt that Todd at this point would be a great choice,” Anderson noted during the January 14 Committee of the Whole meeting.

Community Commitment and Experience

In addition to his new role, Kyllo is actively involved in the community as the chair of the Sicamous Narrows Environmental Enhancement Society and a member of the Economic Development Corporation. These positions provide him with relevant experience that will benefit the planning and development committee.

At Kyllo’s first meeting on January 22, Baillie officially welcomed him to the committee. He acknowledged the significant contributions of Heap, commending her years of service. “Thank you for stepping up and serving your community. You’re filling some pretty big shoes after Deb has decided to go off and pursue one of her other hundreds of things she does for this community,” Baillie remarked.

The committee’s focus remains on enhancing the planning and development processes within Sicamous, aiming to meet the needs of the community while ensuring sustainable growth. As Kyllo steps into this role, he brings a wealth of experience that is expected to positively impact future projects.
