Wolf Pack Shut Out Senators 4-0 in Hartford Showdown
The Belleville Senators faced a tough defeat against the Hartford Wolf Pack, losing 4-0 in their recent matchup in Hartford. The Wolf Pack’s strong performance marked the end of the season series between the two teams, with Belleville finishing with a 1-1-0-0 record against Hartford.
With just over six minutes into the first period, the Wolf Pack took an early lead. Defenseman Brandon Scanlin capitalized on a two-on-one opportunity, scoring his second goal of the season to put Hartford up 1-0. The momentum continued as Hartford extended their lead. During a three-on-two rush into Belleville’s zone, Jaroslav Chmelar delivered a precise saucer pass to Anton Blidh, who found the back of the net, making it a 2-0 game.
In the second period, the Senators sought to break through Hartford’s defense. They outshot the Wolf Pack 9-6 and earned three power play opportunities. Despite their efforts, they could not find a way past goaltender Spencer Martin, maintaining the score at 2-0.
The third period saw Hartford capitalize on a transition play. A lead pass from Justin Dorrington set up Chmelar, who dropped the puck for Justin Dowling. Dowling’s high shot from the slot widened the gap to 3-0. Just over two minutes later, Juuso Parssinen extended the lead further by scoring his third goal of the year during a scramble in front of the net, finalizing the score at 4-0.
This matchup marked the final meeting of the season between the Senators and the Wolf Pack, with Belleville now holding an all-time record of 9-5-1-0 against Hartford. Following this defeat, the Senators will have a break before their next game on March 24, 2024, when they will face the Utica Comets at the Adirondack Bank Center. This upcoming match will initiate a series of four consecutive meetings between the teams, with the puck drop scheduled for 19:00.
As the Senators regroup, they aim to bounce back and improve their performance in the coming games.
