Non-US Airlines Surge at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport This December

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) continues to hold its title as the busiest airport in the world, primarily due to the operations of major U.S. carrier Delta Air Lines. However, a significant number of international airlines are also making their mark. According to scheduling data from Cirium, non-US airlines are set to operate a total of 1,478 flights to and from Atlanta this month, highlighting the airport’s global connectivity.

Aeromexico Dominates Non-US Operations

Leading the charge among non-US airlines is Aeromexico, which has scheduled 232 flights and 22,968 seats for December 2025. All services are operated by Aeromexico Connect, utilizing Brazilian-made Embraer E190 twinjets, configured with 11 business class and 88 economy class seats. The airline connects Atlanta with four Mexican destinations: Bajio (BJX), Queretaro (QRO), San Luis Potosi (SLP), and Monterrey (MTY). Notably, the San Luis Potosi route was launched in June 2025 as part of a collaboration with Delta, increasing the number of destinations between Mexico and the U.S. to 26.

Canada’s Strong Presence

Canada remains a vital market for ATL, with WestJet as the leading non-US airline from the northern neighbor. This month, WestJet has planned 184 flights and 27,510 seats between Atlanta and Canadian cities. The airline predominantly uses various models of the Boeing 737, with Calgary (YYC) receiving the most attention, averaging over one flight daily in each direction. WestJet also offers service to Edmonton (YEG), Vancouver (YVR), and Winnipeg (YWG) with multiple weekly flights.

In addition to WestJet, Air Canada is also making its presence felt with 178 flights and 13,528 seats. The airline operates services through its regional partner, Jazz, using Embraer E175 jets. Toronto (YYZ) is served with almost daily flights, while Montreal (YUL) benefits from daily connections as well. Interestingly, there are no overlapping routes between Air Canada and WestJet.

European Connections Expand

The transatlantic market is also flourishing at Hartsfield-Jackson, with KLM leading the way among European carriers. The Dutch airline has scheduled 124 flights from its hub in Amsterdam (AMS) this month, using Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft. Fellow SkyTeam partners Air France and Virgin Atlantic follow closely, with 116 and 108 flights respectively.

Other notable carriers in the transatlantic market include Turkish Airlines, providing more than one round trip daily with a total of 40 flights from Istanbul (IST). Additionally, airlines such as British Airways, Etihad, Kenya Airways, LATAM, and Qatar Airways also maintain a regular presence at ATL throughout December 2025.

As the airport gears up for an influx of international flights, the robust participation of non-US carriers underscores Hartsfield-Jackson’s role as a critical hub in global aviation. The continued collaboration between airlines and the strategic expansion of routes reflect a thriving international travel landscape.
