North Korea has launched approximately ten ballistic missiles toward the Sea of Japan, according to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS). The missiles were fired from the Sunan area in North Korea at around 13:20 local time (04:20 GMT) on Saturday, landing roughly 350 kilometres away. This provocative move follows Pyongyang’s recent warnings of “terrible consequences” in response to ongoing military exercises conducted by South Korea and the United States.

The South Korean military has indicated it is prepared to “respond overwhelmingly to any provocation,” highlighting the heightened tensions on the Korean Peninsula. Japan’s Defence Ministry also confirmed the missile launch, stating it involved what is likely a ballistic missile.
