Man Arrested After Found Sleeping in Home in Blind River

A man has been charged after he was found sleeping in a stranger’s home in Blind River, Ontario. The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, when the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a break-and-enter call shortly after 3:45 a.m.

According to a statement from the OPP, the homeowners discovered an unknown individual on their couch and promptly notified authorities. Police arrived at the residence on Jacques Street, where they took the 34-year-old man into custody without incident.

While the man was a stranger to the homeowners, police later confirmed that he was known to them. Following his arrest, he was transported to the Blind River detachment, where he was detained until he was sober.

The man now faces a charge of being unlawfully in a dwelling house. He is scheduled to appear in court in Elliot Lake on November 6, 2023.
