Halifax Charity to Provide Free Meals for New Year’s Eve Celebration
A Halifax charity, the Souls Harbour Rescue Mission, is preparing to serve free meals on New Year’s Eve as part of its ongoing commitment to support the community. Following a successful Christmas initiative that provided over 1,200 free meals, the organization aims to offer restaurant-quality turkey dinners with all the trimmings to more than 300 guests on December 31, 2023.
The event will take place at their facility located at 5568 Cunard Street, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.. According to Michelle Porter, CEO of the Souls Harbour Rescue Mission, this initiative is designed to foster hope and a sense of belonging as individuals and families look forward to a fresh start in the New Year.
Community Impact and Support
The charity has garnered significant support from local donors, which has been vital for their initiatives. The New Year’s Eve meal is part of a broader mission to create connections within the community and ensure that those in need have access to quality meals during the holiday season.
Souls Harbour recently celebrated its 35th Annual Christmas Dinner, which successfully served hundreds of individuals across the province. These events not only provide nourishment but also create a welcoming atmosphere for community members to gather and connect with one another.
As the organization prepares for this New Year’s celebration, it underscores its commitment to supporting vulnerable populations in Halifax. The efforts of Souls Harbour and its supporters exemplify the spirit of giving and community resilience, especially during the holiday season.
For anyone interested in attending or supporting the initiative, the Souls Harbour Rescue Mission encourages community members to join them on New Year’s Eve to share in the meal and the spirit of togetherness.
