The FBI has confirmed the seizure of motorcycles valued at nearly $55 million (approximately US$40 million) during raids in Mexico that are linked to Canadian fugitive Ryan Wedding. The operation, carried out by Mexican authorities, also involved the confiscation of artwork and two Olympic medals, further complicating the case against Wedding, who is a former Olympian now wanted for alleged drug trafficking activities.

In a series of coordinated actions last month, multiple Mexican agencies executed search warrants at four locations in Mexico City and the State of Mexico. These operations targeted properties associated with one of the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted fugitives, although Wedding was not explicitly named in the official statements. He is the only individual on this list who meets the specific profile provided by authorities.

62 high-end motorcycles, including several premium Ducati models known for their exceptional performance, were recovered during these raids. Images released by the FBI depict a range of seized items, underscoring the scale of the operation. According to a statement from the FBI’s Los Angeles division, this successful seizure is indicative of ongoing efforts to dismantle organized crime networks.

In addition to the motorcycles, authorities recovered two gold medals, initially thought to be Olympic honors, but later determined to be awarded for the Canadian National Snowboard Series. Wedding participated in the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, where he finished 24th in the giant slalom event, and he has no Olympic medals to his name.

The FBI shared various images from the raids, including four pieces of art. One notable piece features a depiction of renowned Italian motorcycle racer Valentino Rossi, identifiable by the number 46 on his sport bike. Another artwork illustrates a figure in a sombrero, set against a vibrant orange backdrop. Alongside these items, law enforcement also seized an undisclosed quantity of methamphetamine and marijuana, as well as documentation and ammunition.

The operation reflects a broader investigation into Wedding’s alleged drug trafficking operations. Following his career as an athlete, he is accused of establishing a significant narcotics network, reportedly trafficking cocaine from Colombia through Mexico into both the United States and Canada. The 44-year-old from Thunder Bay, Ontario, was placed on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list in March, with the reward for information leading to his capture increasing from $10 million to $15 million in November.

U.S. authorities allege that Wedding is connected to the infamous Sinaloa Cartel, a group classified as a terrorist organization by both Canadian and American governments. He is accused of multiple serious offenses, including orchestrating murders linked to his drug operations, with at least four occurring in Canada.

Reports suggest that Wedding may be using various aliases, including “El Jefe,” “Giant,” and “Public Enemy,” as he evades capture. He is believed to still be hiding in Mexico, complicating efforts to apprehend him.

As the investigation continues, the FBI remains vigilant in its pursuit of Wedding, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in tackling organized crime. Further developments are expected as authorities work to uncover the full extent of his alleged activities.
