Dauphin RCMP Use Taser on Man After Window Vandalism Incident
A man was arrested by Dauphin Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) on March 13, 2024, after allegedly vandalizing property with a large pipe. The incident involved the suspect using the pipe to smash windows of buildings and vehicles, prompting a call to law enforcement.
Upon their arrival, officers encountered a man dressed only in socks and underwear, still holding the pipe. Despite multiple requests to drop the weapon, he refused to comply, leading police to deploy a Taser to safely take him into custody. The man was subsequently transported to a local hospital due to concerns about exposure, having been outside without proper clothing for an extended period.
According to RCMP media relations officer Kevin Engstrom, the 30-year-old faces several charges including mischief under $5,000, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and resisting a peace officer. As the charges have not yet been sworn, the man’s identity remains undisclosed.
Concert Postponed After Performer Suffers Injury
In a separate incident, the Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival announced the postponement of its upcoming concert scheduled for March 17, 2024, at Brandon University. The decision was made after a performer sustained a minor hand injury, as reported by festival director Alla Turbanova.
The injury was communicated to the festival’s organizers late Thursday night. While specific details regarding the injury and the identity of the musician were not disclosed, Turbanova emphasized the importance of ensuring the quality of the performance. “Our priority is to make sure that when audiences hear the music, it is at its absolute best,” she stated in an email.
The performer is currently following medical advice to rest and recover, according to Turbanova. Tickets purchased for the concert will remain valid for the rescheduled date, which has yet to be announced. Turbanova expressed her apologies for any inconvenience caused by the postponement and thanked patrons for their continued support.
This concert was meant to celebrate the works of Maurice Ravel, the renowned French composer and pianist, featuring a blend of voice, flute, and piano arrangements. The festival aims to ensure that when the concert does take place, it will be filled with vitality, energy, and artistry that audiences deserve.
