High school students and their families in DeKalb will have the opportunity to attend a series of free college planning workshops starting on February 3, 2024. Hosted by the DeKalb Public Library, these sessions aim to guide participants through the complexities of the college application process.

The workshops will be held at the library’s lower-level Zimmerman Meeting Room, located at 309 Oak St. Each session will begin at 18:00 (6 p.m.) on the scheduled dates: February 3, February 17, and March 3. Attendees will gain insights into valuable resources provided by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission, which will help them navigate financial aid options and scholarship opportunities.

Each workshop is designed to cover specific topics:

  • February 3: Introduction to ISAC Services
  • February 17: The Financial Aid Process
  • March 3: All About Scholarships

Participants can expect light refreshments and water to be served during the events. Due to limited seating, the workshops will operate on a first-come, first-served basis, and no prior registration is necessary.

For additional information, interested individuals can contact the library via email at [email protected] or by calling 815-756-9568, extension 3400. This initiative reflects the library’s commitment to supporting local students and their families in pursuing higher education.
