Melinda Gates Calls for Bill to Address Epstein Allegations
Philanthropist Melinda French Gates has urged her ex-husband, Bill Gates, to confront allegations regarding his connections to the late Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender. The former couple, who finalized their divorce in May 2021, has seen their past revisited following the release of Epstein-related documents that mention prominent figures, including Gates.
In an upcoming episode of NPR’s podcast, *Wild Card*, Melinda expressed her views on Bill’s association with Epstein, stating that he “needs to answer” for his alleged ties. During the discussion, she emphasized that it is not her role to address the questions surrounding her ex-husband’s relationships. “Whatever questions remain… those questions are for those people and for even my ex-husband,” she said. Melinda added, “They need to answer to those things, not me. And I am so happy to be away from all the muck that was there.”
Reflecting on the distressing experiences of Epstein’s victims, Melinda conveyed her sadness at the pain they endured. She noted that reading about their experiences brings back memories of difficult times during her 27-year marriage to Bill. “It’s beyond heartbreaking. I remember being those ages those girls were. I remember my daughters being those ages,” she remarked in an interview with Rachel Martin, host of the podcast. Despite the emotional toll, she affirmed her decision to move forward with her life, stating, “I’m in a really unexpected, beautiful place in my life.”
The renewed scrutiny of Bill Gates follows the release of documents by the U.S. Justice Department, which included a photo of him with Epstein. Just recently, additional files were disclosed, listing Gates alongside other influential figures such as former U.S. President Donald Trump and entrepreneur Elon Musk. These documents include emails in which Epstein allegedly claimed that Gates contracted a sexually transmitted disease from encounters with “Russian girls.”
In response to these allegations, Bill Gates’ representatives have categorically denied the claims presented in the Epstein files. A statement from his team described the allegations as “absolutely absurd and completely false.” They asserted that the documents reflect Epstein’s frustrations over not maintaining an ongoing relationship with Gates and suggested that the late financier sought to entrap and defame him.
In an interview with CNN, Bill Gates reiterated his denial of the allegations, claiming that Epstein authored the emails himself, asserting that they were never sent. “Apparently, Jeffrey wrote an email to himself. That email was never sent, the email is you know, false,” he said. Gates expressed regret over his previous associations with Epstein, stating, “It just reminds me, you know, every minute I spent with him I regret.”
He further clarified the extent of his relationship with Epstein, maintaining that he attended only dinners and had no involvement with Epstein’s illicit activities. “I never went to the island. I never met any women,” Gates stated. He expressed hope that as more information emerges, it will underscore that while his past interactions with Epstein were a mistake, they were not linked to any inappropriate behavior.
As this story continues to develop, the implications of these revelations on Bill Gates’ public image and philanthropic efforts remain significant. Melinda’s call for accountability adds another layer to an already complex narrative surrounding the legacy of both Gates and their joint philanthropic endeavors.
